Please reach us at bluegrassacademyofdance@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are located at 944 S 12 St. Murray, KY 42071 behind Food Giant!
During our regular season, our front desk is staffed Monday through Thursday from 3:30-6:30pm. Other times are available by appointment.
Click the blue "Register" banner at the top of our website or click here. From here you can create or sign in to your family account, view classes, and register. You can always email us with any questions about choosing the best class for you or your dancer!
Follow the age or grade level guidelines to choose classes. It is usual (and preferred for mastery of skills) for dancers to stay in the same level for at least two years. Beginners are welcome at any age. Private lessons are available upon request.
Dress code information including attire and shoes needed for each class can be found under the "Family Info" tab.
We can size your dancer for and order apparel or shoes at the front desk. Other options for ordering include discountdance.com or Amazon. (However, please be sure to order the correct color shoes and apparel).
We automatically offer a 20% discount for each additional class taken.
We automatically include a sibling discount of 20% (for each sibling).
The very best way to get the most instruction at the best rate is by joining a competition team. You can find more info under the "Competition Team" tab.
We want dance to be accessible for EVERYONE! Scholarships are available based on need, attendance, and work ethic, Please contact us for more information.
Check our "Shoe Share" bins for free gently used shoes, and our "Freebie" box for apparel. Make sure to pass along your outgrown shoes and apparel to spread the love!
Assuming you register before or at the beginning of the season, the answer is NONE! The monthly fee includes all required performance apparel and costume, performance fees, two tickets to each show, and a spring recital t-shirt. Other possible costs to consider are new shoes or apparel, additional tickets to performances, or Recital or Performance DVDs.
Competition teams require entry fees to events, choreography fees, and intensive fees.
We have a camera system in each studio connected to monitors in the lobby so that caregivers can watch their dancer take class if desired. (Lobby space is first come, first serve). We occasionally have "visitor days" for certain classes. Except in cases of separation anxiety for the student, we do not typically invite caregivers into the classroom to encourage independent learning and lesser distraction, as well as due to lack of space.
Yes, you can still register at any time, although additional registration fees will apply. However, students will not be eligible to perform in the Fall Ballet in December or the Spring Recital in May after a certain point in each semester.
We do not recommend starting classes in November or December (wait until January) or April or May (instead wait until summer sessions), as the instructors will not be able to slow down instruction for beginners at that point. Private and semi-private lessons are always available.
Almost all children love music and dancing from a very early age! We start "My Grownup and Me" dancers at 18 months.
We welcome beginners of all ages.
If you are an adult looking for classes and don't see one on the schedule, let us know! We love to have them we have enough interest.
We will consider adding additional classes to the schedule if space allows, and if you can bring 5 or more dancers to register for that class. Email us or see us at the front desk for request so we can keep track of interest.
We produce a full-length ballet each fall semester (usually in December- see the calendar for specifics). Dancers who are enrolled in Dance and Tumble Tots, Pre-K, Dance 1, Ballet 2, Ballet 3, Ballet 4, Ballet 5, and Ballet 6 will perform in this show.
We have an end of the season recital each May for ALL dancers enrolled!
Competition team members perform at competition/convention events, as well as other community performances when available, including halftime shows and parades.
We also have a performance based summer camp in which we produce a story ballet and perform at the end of the camp!
